As the school bells ring out once again through out Alaska, the Wells Fargo stage is planning a run to local schools with a strong box full of cash and supplies. The program now in its second year is called "Team Up For Our Schools," and gives customers the chance to earn up to a $40 contribution for their local schools. Nationally Wells Fargo has committed to donate up $40 to the local school district for every customer who opens a new account or bank services such as a credit card or on line bill pay, according to Kathy Gensel, Wells Fargo Soldotna Branch Manager. "Last year our 2003 campaign statewide just from our Alaskan stores donated over $31,000 to schools in Alaska and between the four Wells Fargo stores here on the Peninsula we contributed $3,150 to the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District," said Gensel. I
n addition to the cash contribution the "Team Up for Our Schools" campaign is collecting school supplies at drop boxes located at each branch office, "We've gone out to the schools and said if they have a particular need such as paper, rulers, color pencils or items like glue sticks to advise what those needs are and we'll try to meet those with what our team members and customers bring in to our drop boxes. Even though Wells Fargo is a large company, they are committed to giving back to the local community that gives to us, and it makes me feel good to work for a company like that," said Gensel.
The program will continue through October 16th and will donate $10 for each new checking account, checking package, online bill pay, or credit card signed up for. See you Wells Fargo personal banker for details.
