Knowles' record shows support for kids, future

Do you use Denali Kidcare? If so, you can thank Tony Knowles for that program. Fully 65 percent of Alaska's children today would not have health coverage without it.

Tony cares about kids, the future of Alaska and he has proven it with his courage to develop programs like Denali KidCare while governor.

Concerned about the unfunded mandate of the No Child Left Behind Act and how it negatively impacts our children? So is Tony. He does not support legislation which is unrealistic and does not believe laws should be passed which are not fully funded to back them up. The No Child Left Behind Act is simply a train wreck in progress and has many educators shaking their heads wondering why our government, why our Congressional leaders have turned their back on our children's future.

Did you know that Head Start is the most successful preschool program ever developed for low income children? Guess what? Bush's budget for Head Start fails to keep up with inflation, thus it will be necessary to cut services. Right now it only serves half of eligible children. Tony believes that Head Start is a rich and vital program. He'll support it as senator.

If you are undecided about who to vote for in November, go to and take a short quiz to see where you stand with the issues facing us as Alaskans and as Americans.

We need Tony Knowles in Washington, D.C., because he will not simply vote the party line. He will vote for what is best for Alaskans and Alaska.
