Physical education classes will finish up the soccer unit next week and start the basketball unit the following week. Fitness testing starts in one month, so students are encouraged to exercise at home to improve their performance.

There still is space available for students to enroll in After the Bell. Registration forms are available at the counselor's office. ATB runs from 2:45 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Students in sports can get up to an hour of homework help after sports.

The following cross country runners placed in the top 10 in the first meet of the season. On the boys team, Alex Stone placed first; Josh Marquardt, third; Jordan Merkes, fifth; John Cook, eighth; and Ryan Helminski, ninth. For the girls team, Kailey Mucha was second; Jenna Jensen, fourth; Kaitlyn Wherli, eighth; and Sarah Walton, ninth.

There will be a cross country meet at 3 p.m. Friday in Kenai.

The white soccer team will play against Kenai at 3 p.m. Thursday at home. On Saturday, the maroon soccer team will be at Homer at 10 a.m., and the white team will be at Seward at noon.

All students are eligible to participate in "Operation Black-Out." It will allow students to earn extra points by reading and bringing in a signed form from parents.

The first fortnightly of the year will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
