Parents are asked to update the school's records with home addresses, emergency contacts and any changes in phone numbers. Current information is necessary in case of an emergency. Families are asked to provide updates as soon as possible.
Superintendent Donna Peterson will spend the day at Tustumena on Sept. 28. She will observe teaching and learning in each of the classrooms, as well as visit with Principal Ken Halverson. An hour has been set aside for parents to meet informally with her from 3 to 4 p.m. in the library. Peterson will be joined by Paula Christiansen, who is the district's director of elementary instruction.
Congratulations to third-grader Curtis Oliver, who was the winner of the bike drawing during the open house last Thursday. The winners of the backpacks provided by our Title I program that evening were Haley Hedger, Dartanian Aldridge and Nicolas Gosner.
The school is seeking nominations for its site council. There are two seats available at this time. Seat A has one year remaining on its term, and Seat C has a three-year term. Nominations may be made by contacting the school or a PTO board member. The site council election will occur during the next monthly meeting of the PTO scheduled for Tuesday.
School pictures are scheduled for Sept. 22. Magic Moments in Soldotna will be the vendor for student portraits. The prices of the various picture packages have been sent home with students. Parents may contact the school should that package information not be available.
