FAS Awareness Day a success thanks to community support

Posted: Thursday, September 15, 2005

Thank you to all who participated in International Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Awareness Day on Sept. 9. It was a beautiful ceremony on the bluff and we were very happy to have the tent from Conoco Phillips to keep the rain off, the hot coffee from Kaladi Bros, and the wonderful baked goods from Safeway.

Thanks to Christ Lutheran Church for the use of their bell, to Mayor and Vice Mayor Pat Porter and Joe Moore for the official proclamation, to my fellow staff at Frontier Community Services for helping me put it all together, and a very big thanks to the tireless parents, caregivers, and professionals who do so much to make life successful for families who experience FASD.

Vickie Tinker, coordinator, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Program, Frontier Community Services, Soldotna
