Toys were enjoyed by more than kids

The Rotary Club of Kenai would like to extend a hearty thank you to all the sponsors, operators and participants who made our Big Tonkas on the Bluff event a huge success on Industry Appreciation Day. Big Tonkas on the Bluff could not have happened without the generous contributions of several local companies and organizations. The Rotary Club of Kenai would like to thank Double A Dan's Construction, ACS, D&L Construction, HEA, Airport Equipment Rentals, Sign Works, The Decanter Inn, Peninsula Sanitation, Air Liquide, Wells Fargo, Tesoro, HiSpeed Gear!, First American Title, Walter's and Associates, Integrity Survey, David Ramey Photography and Kenai Peninsula Builder's Association.

The biggest stars of the day were the equipment operators. They ran the machines continuously throughout the day, without taking breaks, and greeted the kids with an unending supply of smiles and patience. They displayed their professional skills and took obvious pride in their vocations. Their attention to safety, above all else, helped put parents and club members at ease. We would like to thank Dan Krogseng, excavator, the front end loader and dump truck; Herman Collins Ill, front end loader, excavator and dump truck; Harry Mead, 580 back-hoe; Earl Hicks, excavator, front end loader, "Job Boss;" Iver Ohnemus, bull dozer and road grader; Gabe Aburto and Jeffe Leete, double bucket boom truck; and Ben Lowe, road grader.

The Rotary Club of Kenai is committed to events that help raise funds for scholarships and other community service functions. We thank all the parents who brought their kids to ride on the "biggest Tonkas ever." Each and every child who participated had a day they may never forget.
