Capt. Oliver H. "Tex" Landua, U.S.N. (Ret.), 90, died Aug. 23, 2010, at the home of his son John in Kenai.

His remains will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery.

Mr. Landua was a U.S. Naval Academy graduate with the class of 1942, and a World War II combat veteran. He served in the Navy until retirement in 1973. He was married and widowed twice.

"A seeker all his life, he died a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having served the Heavenly Father through the Church for more than 30 years. He was a devoted husband and father to four sons and a daughter, all of whom survive him, along with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren," his family said.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Hospice Brazos Valley in Bryan, Texas, or to Hospice of the Central Peninsula in Soldotna.
