Gilbreath to speak at Kenai chamber

Dave Gilbreath, Central Peninsula General Hospital CEO, will be the featured speaker at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce meeting at noon today at Paradisos. His topic will be the hospital expansion project. Cost of lunch is $10.50. For more information, call Colleen at 283-7989.

New classes offered at Skyview pool

The Skyview pool now offers water aerobics on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. For more information and a complete list of what the pool has to offer, call 262-7675.

Disable veterans schedule meeting

Chapter 5 of the Disable American Veterans will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the old NAPA building across from the Big Dipper Car Wash in Kenai.

The meeting will cover updates on federal bills that deal with veterans. Participants are encourage to bring questions about veterans' health and pension issues. All veterans are welcome to attend. For more information, call Glenn at 283-4359.

Kennel club offering dog classes

The Kenai Kennel Club is offering fall classes at its new facility in the former Inlet Card and Craft store in the C Plaza in Kenai. Classes will include beginning agility, puppy kindergarten, basic, intermediate and advance obedience, rally obedience and conformation handling. HEA seeking applications for board seat

Homer Electric Association is accepting applications for its board of directors seat for District 1 (Kenai-Nikiski).

Applicants must be a current member of Homer Electric and reside within the boundaries of District 1. Applications are available at the Homer and Kenai offices of Homer Electric and must be turned in to either location by Friday at 5 p.m.

KCHS to raffle off quilt Saturday

The Kenai Central High School football boosters are selling raffle tickets for a handmade quilt. The drawing will take place Saturday at the homecoming game. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased from any booster member. For more information, call 335-0123.

Builders association seeking nominees

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association is seeking nominees for its 2004 board of directors. The deadline for applications is Monday. Any members of KPBA can apply. For more information, call 283-8071.

Youth basketball teams accepting registration

The North Peninsula Recreation will hold Nikiski youth basketball registration for third- through sixth-grade coed teams. There also will be fifth- and sixth-grade interleague teams.

Sign-ups will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Monday through Oct. 2 at the Nikiski pool; 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Nikiski Elementary; and 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 at North Star Elementary School. The application deadline is Oct. 2. For more information, call Rachel at 776-8800.
