Nikiski football set for fundraiser

Nikiski High School’s annual football team fundraiser is scheduled for Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., when players will be going door to door selling toilet paper. The players will be identifiable by uniform.

Seward girls, SkyHi boys take boroughs

The Seward girls and Skyview boys cross country teams won the Kenai Peninsula Borough Meet on Saturday in Seward.

On the girls side, Rubye Foldager won the borough title while the Skyview girls were the runner-up team. On the boys side, Erick Romig won the borough title while the Seward boys were the runner-up team.

Complete results were not available as the Clarion went to press.

Marathon set to run

The first Kenai River Marathon will be held Oct. 1 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center parking lot. Individuals may enter either the full or half marathon, or 4-person teams can enter the marathon. Cost for individuals is $45 for the full marathon or $35 for the half. Team relay entry fee is $60. Registration is available online at or at the visitor’s center.

Volunteers are also needed to staff the race. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to call Dr. Hansen at 283-4611. For information on sponsoring the race or registration, call the visitor’s center at 283-1991. For general race information, call the center or Bob Frates at 283-3692.
