Since I have not seen a harvest summary, the 70-percent harvest rate was a guesstimate (Clarion, Aug. 31). What I do recall is that the state, in 2009, printed 30,000 dipnet harvest reports and ran out, forcing them to print another 5,000.
Also the ADF&G sportfish division stated that 15 percent of the dipnet harvest reports are not returned.
My point is, fishermen were limiting out upstream and a lot of fish were harvested in the river. I am impressed by the fact that your readership includes a Mat-Su Valley dipnetter. I appreciate the desire for accuracy.
