An alleged drunk driver struck a parked car as Alaska State Troopers pulled him over Wednesday.

Troopers received a report about 4 p.m. of a 1997 Toyota Tacoma almost into a ditch near Mile 20 of the Kenai Spur Highway. Trooper Greg Pealatere found the truck swerving down the road, crossing the center line multiple times.

Traffic stopped by the sides of the road when Pealatere switched on his lights. The alleged drunk driver, Trent Francis, attempted to stop by the side of the road, and instead struck a white SUV which had pulled over as the troopers approached. Each vehicle incurred minor damage, the trooper said.

After a field sobriety test, troopers ascertained that Francis, of Soldotna, had a blood alcohol content of just under .08 and was under the influence of prescribed drugs.

Francis, 34, was charged with driving under the influence and remanded to the Wildwood Correctional facility. His bail was set at $500.
