Tustumena run set for Saturday

Tustumena Elementary School will be having its fourth annual fun run Saturday. Proceeds benefit school activities and field trips. The run begins and ends at Tustumena Elementary School. The route goes down Johnson Lake Road, Cabin Road and Tustumena Lake Road before entering Johnson Lake State Recreation Area. This was and still may be a gravel road course, but it is currently being paved. The Department of Transportation will make sure runners have access to the course.

The race fee is $15, or $20 with a T-shirt. Registration is open at 10:30 a.m., while the race time is 11:30 a.m. Free coffee, donated by Kaladi Brothers, will be available after the race. There also will be a bake sale after the race.

Volunteers needed for Kenai River Marathon

The Kenai River Marathon will be Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are needed to set up water stations, man water stations during the race, time runners and assist with cleanup after the race. Call Dr. Pete Hansen or Kris Harris at 283-4611 to sign up.
