The host Soldotna volleyball team was defeated by Wasilla 25-17, 19-25, 20-25, 28-26 and 15-12 Saturday in Northern Lights Conference action.
The Stars appeared to have won the match in the fourth game after an ace by Liz Rohloff seemed to give the Stars the game four win. As the teams readied to get together to shake hands, though, it was noticed that a line judge had called a foot fault on Rohloff's serve.
"That kind of took the wind out of our sails," Soldotna coach Pako Whannell said. "It was the right call, but it was tough to come back from.
"We played hard in the fifth game, but Wasilla ended up winning."
The Stars are now 0-4 in the conference and 1-4 overall.
Whannell said Laura Harro is her player of the week for consistent serving and digging. Harro had 18 good digs in the match against Wasilla.
