Kodiak stomps Homer

The host Kodiak football team defeated Homer 25-0 on Saturday in Northern Lights Conference action.

The Bears improved to 3-1 in the Northern Lights Conference and 5-1 overall, while Homer dropped to 1-2 in the NLC and 4-2 overall.

Stuart McFarland paced the Kodiak attack. McFarland rushed 13 times for 52 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 120 yards. Anthony Francisco added a rushing touchdown for Kodiak, while Curtis Catt had a 70-yard interception return.

“Homer just couldn’t get anything going,” Kodiak coach Todd Cook said after his team held the Mariners to 83 yards of total offense. “It was partly because of the field.”

Cook said the field was very muddy and that trying to make a sharp cut was impossible.

Also Saturday, Seward defeated Valdez 24-6
