Agrium live fire training continues

Agrium Kenai Nitrogen Operations will conduct live fire training for its employees and the Nikiski Fire Department at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and additional sessions at 7:45 a.m. Thursdays through September at the plant at Mile 21 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Propane, gasoline and diesel will be used in the training. Occasionally there will be smoke and open flames visible from the highway near the north west corner of the plant.

Women invited to take a break

Peninsula Take-a-Break will hold a fall "Bargains Galore" fashion show. Attendees are asked to bring their summer bargain fashions and be a part of a fashion show from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Solid Rock Conference Center. Lunch will be $10. Free child care will be provided.

The featured speaker will be "do-it-yourselfer" Joanne Klaver. She will discuss how she found her way through the maze of ups and downs in her life. For reservations, call Cindy at 260-6262 or Susan at 335-6789. Walk-ins are welcome.

Developmental screening offered

Frontier Community Services will hold developmental screenings for children ages infant to 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at its office at 43335 Kalifornsky Beach Road, Suite 16, in the Red Diamond Center. Vision and hearing screenings also will be given.

Little League to vote on board

Volunteers to get party

The Kenai Watershed Forum will host a membership volunteer appreciation party from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 28 at Soldotna Creek Park Pavilion. Door prizes and a watershed presentation will be held at 5:30 p.m.

SoHi offers lifeguard training

Soldotna High School swimming pool staff will hold a lifeguard training class Sept. 29 at the pool. Participants must be at least 15 years old. Preregistration is recommended. For more information, times and cost of class, call 262-7419.

Soccer coaches sought

Kenai Peninsula Soccer Club is seeking coaches for the 2007-08 season. Coaches must have an E license with a D license preferred. Tuition cost for certification will be reimbursed by the club. Interested community members are asked to send a letter of intent to coach and include a summary of coaching and working with youth to or mail to KPSC, Board of Directors, P.O., Box 393, Kenai, AK 99611. The deadline to apply is Oct. 1.

Life guard class available

The Nikiski pool will offer an American Red Cross Lifeguard class Oct. 2 through 7. Participants must be at least 15.

Bowling leagues forming

Winter bowling leagues are seeking members.

Hospice seeks volunteers

Hospice of the Central Peninsula is seeking volunteers who can commit two to three hours a week for two months at a time and attend a 20-hour training session. Fall training will start the third Monday of October. For more information, call at 262-0453.

The LeeShore Center's community directory of the central Kenai Peninsula resources is available for $25 with a three-ring binder or $15 for refill pages only.
