Registration begins today for after school program

Parents may register their children today, Wednesday and Thursday for the Boys and Girls Club program "After the Bell," which begins in October at Skyview and Soldotna high schools, Soldotna Middle School, and Redoubt and Soldotna elementary schools. "After the Bell" includes academic assistance and enrichment programs. Scholarships are available. For more information, call 283-2682.

Tax seminar for small businesses takes place today

The Kenai Peninsula Small Business Development Center will sponsor a seminar, "Organizing Your Way to Tax Success," today from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Kenai Economic Development District. Margo Collins will be speaking. For more information, call 283-3335.

Soldotna chamber meets at noon today

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon today at noon at the Riverside House in Soldotna. Speakers will be "Five Russian Leaders with the 2000 Russian Leadership Program." Will Files, past president of the Homer-Kachemak Rotary Club, also will speak.

Emergency planning committee to meet Wednesday

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Local Emergency Planning Committee will meet Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the assembly chambers of the Borough Building in Soldotna. The public is invited to attend. Red Cross will hold first aid, CPR class Sept. 30

The American Red Cross offers a first aid and CPR class Sept. 30. Community members interested in updating their first aid and CPR skills can register this week. American Red Cross class fees are used to help families affected by disaster on the Kenai Peninsula. For more information, call 262-4541.
