Ann Louise Perry

Nikiski resident Ann Louise Perry died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, in Soldotna. She was 55.

Memorial services were held Friday, Sept. 15, 2000. William White officiated. Additional services are planned. For more information, call Brandy Cowie at 283-2625.

Mrs. Perry was born July 29, 1945, in Yakima, Wash. She moved to Alaska with her family in 1948. She graduated from East High School in Anchorage in 1963. Mrs. Perry also graduated from business school. She worked at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna, Cook Inlet Processing in Nikiski and Sheet Metal Inc. in Anchorage.

She was a member of Abbott Loop Church in Anchorage.

Mrs. Perry once appeared on the Norma Goodman Show for her work with foster children. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading and bird watching. Her interests also included hemp, butterflies, Lhasa apso, house plants, the San Francisco 49ers and her children and grandchildren.

The family wrote, "Mom was the core of our family. She kept us all together our whole lives, through terrible circumstances. She always kept her chin up and always told us all to do the same. She was the epitome of strength, and we will love and miss her forever. She loved Alaska, the earth and creatures that God made dearly. She was so special, and touched all her friends' and family's lives deeply. What will we all do without her?"

The family also wrote, "Hang in there; within sight is the rainbow."

Mrs. Perry is survived by her husband, Rob Gowdy; parents Warren and Edna Roberts; sister, Judy Aviarios; brother, David Roberts; daughters Jessica Perry, Brandy Cowie, Melissa Perry and Katie Robinson; sons James Perry and Phil Perry; daughters-in-law Alecia Perry and Renae Perry; sons-in-law Jason Feeney, Michael Hayes, Jesse Jiminez and Alex Cowie; grandchildren J.R., Monica, Chad, Erik, Myranda, Alex, Shane, Nicholas, Cassidy, Julian, Christopher, Ethan, Troy and Aja; aunt, Dorothy Emerton; and friends Shelley Moore and Julie Triplett.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 196613, Anchorage, AK, 99519-6613, account number 582113. Donations will be used to pay for a trip to Mount Redoubt to spread her ashes.
