A man is dead and his brother charged with stabbing him after an altercation between the two occurred Friday night in Sterling.
Alaska State Troopers and Central Emergency Services medics responded to a home off Cedarwood in Sterling at 10:38 p.m. after receiving a 911 call. They found Paul M. Gibson, 32, with a knife wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alaska Bureau of Investigation officers interviewed several witnesses at the scene. According to troopers, the witnesses said Gibson and his brother, Jesse A. Gibson, 34, had argued and physically fought in the kitchen. Sometime during the fight, Paul Gibson received the knife wound.
Jesse Gibson told one of the witnesses he had killed his brother and to call 911, troopers said.
Jesse sustained a small cut to his hand, but otherwise was uninjured. He was arrested at the scene and taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility on the charge of second-degree murder.
