Phone card donations sought
The Alaska District of the Postal Service has extended its campaign called "Let Freedom Ring" that allows customers to purchase a $10 USPS Global International phone card and donate it to Alaska military personnel serving overseas through the end of September.
Cards may be purchased and donated at the post office in Soldotna, Kasilof, Homer, Kenai and Seward.
Junior Achievement schedules meeting
Junior Achievement will meet at noon Tuesday at the New Peking Restaurant in Kenai. It is seeking interested community members to be a volunteer consultants and assist with fund raising.

The Kenai Peninsula Resource Conservation and Development District will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday at 110 Trading Bay Drive, Suite 140, Kenai.

Candidate forum planned
The League of Women Voters will sponsor a candidate forum at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Borough Building for Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board and Assembly candidates. School board candidates will answer questions from 7 to 7:30. Assembly candidates from districts 3, 4 and 7 will speak from 7:30 to 8:30.
Members of the public and press will be given the opportunity to ask questions. The forum will be held in the borough assembly chambers in Soldotna.
The League of Women Voters also will host a progressive dinner Sept. 30. Current, past and prospective members are invited to attend for appetizers, a main meal and dessert at three different community homes.

PenDOG to start classes
Peninsula Dog Obedience Group is taking sign-ups for fall classes in agility, beginning, intermediate, advanced and competition obedience, puppy kindergarten and clicker training.
Puppy kindergarten meets weekly and is always open to new students.
A free video hour also is held every Friday at 6 p.m.
The club's new location is on Kalifornsky Beach Road, next to CARTS.
