Youth basketball league forming

North Peninsula Recreation is taking registrations for its Nikiski Youth Basketball league from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Sept. 30 at the Nikiski pool or from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Nikiski North Star Elementary School.

Youth in grades three through six are eligible to participate. Interleague teams also are available. For more information, call 776-8800.

CPHC board meet slated

Central Peninsula Health Centers Inc. board of directors will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Salamatof Centre at 150 North Willow St. in Kenai.

Pool available during school hours

The Soldotna High School pool hours and events are as follows: Morning lap swim from 6 to 8:30 a.m. and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday; evening lap swim from 6 to 7 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and open swim from 7 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. SPCA dinner, auction postponed

The SPCA of the Kenai Peninsula Inc. logo contest winners ceremony scheduled for Friday at Paradios Restaurant in Kenai has been canceled. The new date and time will be announced at a later date. For more information and time, call 262-8550.

Bible study class continues

The First Baptist Church of Kenai is holding an ongoing Beth Moore Bible study class called "The Patriarchs: Encountering the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob" at 10 a.m. Thursdays at the church. Child care is available. For more information, call Joy at 283-7672 or Carole at 283-7772.

Toy donations sought

Area churches are collecting stuffed animals and unbreakable dolls for children affected by Hurricane Katrina. Toys can be new or used and must be in clean and excellent condition.
