Puppet show planned

Nikiski High School's drama, debate and forensics team will put on a puppet show at 7 p.m. today at Nikiski Middle-Senior High School. The original show, called "Baranov's Castle," includes original music, costumes, a set and special effects. It is open to the public. Tickets are $6 at the door.

Scouting registrations offered

The Tustumena District of the Western Alaska Council Boy Scouts will hold its annual back to school registration at the following dates and times: Mountain View and Sears Elementary schools at 7 p.m. today in the gymnasium at Mountain View; Sterling Elementary at 7 p.m. Thursday; Redoubt Elementary at 7 p.m. Sept. 27; and Tustumena Elementary at 7 p.m. Sept. 29.

Women's group to meet

The Peninsula Take a Break will host a Consider A Change luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Solid Rock Conference Center. The topics will be ideas for decorating children's rooms, creative storage ideas and how to achieve goals by substituting action for procrastination. Music will be provided by Bonnie Nichols, Vickie Tinker and Shannon Darling. Free child care is available. The cost is $8. Deadline for reservations is Wednesday. Hereford to speak at chamber

Builders seek board candidates

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association is seeking nominations of members that are interested in serving on the board of directors. Deadline for nominations is Oct. 1. For more information, call 283-8071.

Rec center offers activities

The Kenai Recreation Center has begun registration for its men's city league basketball teams. Sponsor fees are $500 and the player fee is $50. Deadline for registration is Oct. 21. Space is limited to the first 14 paid teams.

The center also is accepting registrations for step aerobics, circuit training and toning classes. Classes begin Tuesday. For more information, call 283-3855.

Homer health fair slated

Kachemak Bay Rotary Club and South Peninsula Hospital will host its annual health fair Nov. 12 at Homer High School. A letter of application is being mailed to past vendors.

Artists, vendors sought
