Naomi 'Martha' (Nelson) Knight-Hodson
Soldotna resident Naomi “Martha” (Nelson) Knight - Hodson died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, surrounded by family and friends following a 20-month battle with small cell lung cancer at the Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. She was 50.
A celebration of her life and a memorial potluck will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at AmVets Post No. 4 in the Red Diamond Center in Soldotna.
Mrs. Knight - Hodson was born October 11, 1955, in Ft. Hood, Texas. She moved to Soldotna in 1989. She was a member of and had volunteered for Guardian of Family Rights on the peninsula.
“Martha was a tireless advocate for anyone who needed a voice. She embraced life and lived life on her own terms until the very end. She had four children, Tish, Melissa, Elisha and Mark, seven grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, a sister, mother, grandmother and many friends who loved her and will miss her dearly. Martha enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, “Her family said.
Mrs. Knight-Hodson was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Wade Nelson.
She is survived by her daughters, Tish Rogers of Kirkland, Wash., Melissa Knight-Gowen of Soldotna and Elisha Billings of Kenai; son, Mark Knight of Walla Walla, Wash.; sister, Cora Targonsky of Kenai; mother, Margaret Nelson of Kenai; and grandmother, Naomi Arrington of Scottsburg, Ind.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
