POW-MIA Day ceremony set to honor

KMS seeks volunteers for health screenings

Kenai Middle School Nurse Pam Howard, will do TB testing Tuesday for seventh-graders and new students. On Sept. 27 she will do overall health screening for seventh-graders and new students. Howard is seeking volunteers to help. For more information or to volunteer, call 283-4896.

Marathon to hit the streets

The annual Kenai River Marathon will be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 30 at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center.

Race officials are seeking runners interested in participating in the half-marathon, relay marathon or the full marathon at 9 a.m. Sept. 30. Registration will be accepted through Sept. 29.

Event activities will include a spaghetti feed kick-off at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska and post race party.

Registration is available online at, at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center or the Mail Station in Kenai.

Student housing to be discussed

A meeting to discuss housing for Kenai Peninsula College students will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 2 in the Mining and Petroleum Training Building at the college at 34820 College Drive. For more information, call 262-0300.

Prime rib dinner fundraiser set to dish

The 13th annual Thelma McConnell scholarship prime rib dinner and auction will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center on the Kenai Spur Highway.

The auction will begin at 7 p.m. The price of admission is $1 for adults or $10 for children 10 and under.

Tickets are available for purchase at the Nikiski Senior Center or at the door.
