HAINES (AP) -- A Haines man has been charged with beating his uncle to death in an argument over ownership of a trailer, Haines police report.
Robert Skulka, 35, was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of second-degree murder. His bail was set Wednesday at $200,000
Skulka and his uncle, 48-year-old William Jackson, got into a quarrel Monday evening over ownership of the trailer, Haines Police Chief Greg Goodman told the Chilkat Valley News.
A court affidavit says witness Ricky Lee Coe told police that Skulka pushed his uncle to the floor and Jackson hit his head on a coffee table as he fell. After Jackson was down, Skulka kicked him in the abdomen several times, Coe related.
Police got the call about 7:45 p.m., Goodman said. Jackson died at the Haines Clinic shortly afterward.
Skulka's bail was set at $200,000.
