Energy contest launched for classes

Posted: Wednesday, September 22, 2004

iScienceProject will sponsor the HOBO Energy Challenge through May 1. The free contest is designed to promote energy awareness within schools while offering students of all ages a hands-on science learning experience with HOBO data loggers (portable electronic recording devices that monitor light usage, room temperature and relative humidity).

Participating classes will receive a free HOBO Loaner Package that includes a data logger, software and energy-saving contest activities. Classes that investigate and document at least one example of energy waste will win a complete HOBO data logger system, worth $200. Classroom sets of data loggers will be awarded to the elementary, middle and high school classes that make the greatest effort to investigate waste.

The program is open to K-12 classes. For more information or to sign up, visit energy_challenge.html. The deadline for entries is April 30.
