The lifelong guideline the students have been learning about is truthfulness; to act in a manner that makes one worthy of trust and confidence.

Thanks to all of the parents who attended the volunteer training last week. Parent information night was another success, and the staff thank those who were able to attend.

The Kaleidoscope-Sears PTA will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

School picture day is Sept. 29. Sibling photos will be taken after school at 3:30 p.m.

The academic policy committee will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 to discuss growth and configuration for the 2005-06 school year. All parents are invited to attend.

Students have been busy in music with Mrs. Larson. They have worked on steady beat in many different ways, movement, instruments and "picture" music. They learned about unpitched instruments and classified them in metals, woods, scraper, shakers and drums. This was a perfect connection to the plant unit. Ask your child about the "Peanut Butter" song.

This week, the first-graders are studying leaves and trees. In math, they are studying thermometers and working on number story problems.

All four of the classes had a wonderful field trip to Sheldens' farm. Many potatoes were dug and weighed. Demonstrations were given on extracting honey from a hive, making birch bark baskets and harvesting birch roots.
