Wasilla resident Margaret Pauline Woods, 86, died peacefully of natural causes Sept. 13, 2010, with her loving husband and daughters by her side, at Wickersham House Assisted Living in Wasilla.
Per her request, no services are being held.
Mrs. Woods was born Jan. 7, 1924, in Denver, Colo. She married Robert Woods Feb. 15, 1942, in Fairplay, Colo. She lived in Renton, Wash., until 1942 and moved to Denver. She had three children, Roy, Ruth & Marjorie. They moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1946, Moose Pass in 1950, Soldotna in 2005 and to Palmer and Wasilla in 2007. Marge spent her years in Moose Pass raising her children, helping with the family business and taking such care of her husband, Bob. Marge also enjoyed the many friends and family who came to visit. She talked a lot about the seven years fishing at the set net salmon site and walking the beach picking up agates that she later used to make jewelry. She loved baking cookies and desserts, puttering with gardening and house plants, and enjoyed all species of birds that flitted around the bird houses and bird feeders.
"She was a loving, kind, caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother," her family said.
She is survived by her husband Robert Woods; daughter Margie; son-in-law, Larry of Palmer; daughter Ruth Moorcroft of King Salmon; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Hardy of Tustin, CA, sister Peggy Jones of Hill City, KS, sister in law Betty Ames of Kenai, AK, many nieces, nephews and so many dear friends. Marge was preceded in death by her son Roy Woods; and grandsons Douglas and Ralph Moorcroft.
