Candidates forum scheduled

The League of Women Voters will hold a candidates forum beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Borough Building in Soldotna. School board candidates will be interviewed at 6:30 p.m. followed by borough assembly candidates at 8 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

CPGH to hold board meeting

The Central Peninsula General Hospital Inc. will hold its monthly board meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Iliamna room at the hospital. The public is invited to attend. For a copy of the agenda, visit its Web site at

Creation vs. evolution debate slated

The second half of the taped debate between Dr. Kent Hovind and anthropology professor Ben Waggoner, of the University of Central Arkansas titled "Is the Theory of Evolution a Science or Religion?" will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at 210 Pioneer Ave. in Homer. Firefighters fellowship breakfast planned

Hockey Squirt B team to hold fund-raiser

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association Squirt B team will hold a car wash and puck shoot fund-raiser from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Three Bears parking lot in Kenai. The fee is $5. For more information, call Lisa at 283-3478.

Court clerks office to close for ceremony

The Alaska Court System clerks office will be closed at the Kenai Courthouse from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 1 for the Atrium dedication ceremony in honor of The Honorable Jonathan H. Link.

Donations sought for Community Closet

The Independent Living Centers' Community Closet is in need of donations. Needed items are transfer benches, shower rails and low-vision equipment. Donations are tax deductible. For more information, to donate or if you have a need that could be filled, call Laurel or Heather at 262-6333.
