Hockey referees sought
Community members interested in officiating hockey games are required to attend a free USA hockey seminar for certification every year.
The seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Soldotna Sports Center for levels one through three.
Attendees are asked to bring skates, a helmet and a whistle.
Lunch will be provided. This will be the only seminar held in the Soldotna area for beginning officials. A seminar will be held in Homer on Oct. 19 and 20. For more information, call Dick Waisanen at 262-6298.
Agrium live fire training continues
Agrium Kenai Nitrogen Operations will conduct live fire training for its employees and the Nikiski Fire Department at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and additional sessions at 7:45 a.m. Thursdays through September at the plant at Mile 21 of the Kenai Spur Highway.
Propane, gasoline and diesel will be used in the training. Occasionally there will be smoke and open flames visible from the highway near the north west corner of the plant.

LeeShore board meeting set
The LeeShore Center's board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the conference room at the center at 325 S. Spruce St. in Kenai. It is open to the public. For more information, call 283-9479.
SoHi offers lifeguard training
Soldotna High School swimming pool staff will hold a lifeguard training class Saturday at the pool. Participants must be at least 15 years old. Preregistration is recommended. For more information, times and cost of class, call 262-7419.
Soccer coaches sought
Kenai Peninsula Soccer Club is seeking coaches for the 2007-08 season. Coaches must have an E license with a D license preferred. Tuition cost for certification will be reimbursed by the club. The deadline to apply is Oct. 1.
Prime rib dinner fundraiser set to dish
The 13th annual Thelma McConnell scholarship prime rib dinner and auction will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center on the Kenai Spur Highway.
The auction will begin at 7 p.m. The price of admission is $15 for adults or $10 for children 10 and under.
Tickets are available for purchase at the Nikiski Senior Center or at the door.

Hospice seeks volunteers
Hospice of the Central Peninsula is seeking volunteers who can commit two to three hours a week for two months at a time and attend a 20-hour training session. Fall training will start the third Monday of October.

KPBSD seeks volunteers
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is seeking volunteers to serve the following committees:
* The budget committee will meet Nov. 9 and 12. This committee will review the district's budget parameters to provide suggestions for consideration in developing the FY09 budget to be submitted to the Board of Education.
* The health curriculum will meet Oct. 2 and 18. This committee will review the current curriculum and make necessary changes based on Alaska state standards and national recommendations in the area of health education.
* The science curriculum will meet Oct. 16. This committee will review the current curriculum and make necessary changes based on Alaska State standards, current data, and research in the field of science.
* Federal programs advisory committee. This committee reviews district data and makes recommendations for districtwide activities in keeping with the state and federal regulations for grant programs. Winter bowling leagues are seeking members.
