A Kenai man was arrested Sunday evening after holding a Kenai police officer at gunpoint at the Anchor Court Trailer Park in Kenai.
Kenai police officers responded to a report that David Eason, 29, was yelling at his girlfriend Sunday evening at 6:32 p.m. in what turned out to be a domestic dispute.
While one of the responding officers was interviewing the female victim, another officer tried talking to Eason.
Police said Eason went into the house and came out with a handgun and pointed it at the officer's head from 16 feet away. He then returned into the house and emerged several minutes later unarmed.
Police used pepper spray to immobilize Eason and arrested him. Eason was charged with assaulting a police officer, domestic violence and resisting arrest. He was remanded to the Wildwood Pretrial Facility.
Eason's brother, Sam Eason, was on the scene during the incident and said he attempted to defuse the situation before it elevated to David Eason's arrest. He said he appreciated the restraint Kenai officers used with his brother.
"I think the police did a good job of handling the situation without being too rough on David," he said.
