The After the Bell program's new, direct phone number is 260-2537. For more information on after-school homework help and tutoring, call Rosy Thompson.

The main gym is open for basketball Monday through Friday from 7:20 to 7:40 p.m. The weight room is open for safe and guided weight training Mondays, Wednesdays and every other Friday from 7:20 to 7:40 p.m.

Fitness testing begins in the physical education classes in three weeks.

Soldotna Middle School cross country runners did an excellent job last Saturday at the meet at Skyview. For the boys team; Brandon Bixby, placed second overall; Jordan Merkes, came in eighth; and Tyler Bennion and Jacob Nagle, took 13th and 14th, respectively. For the girls team, Mara Mohler took first place; Mackenzie McAchran, eighth place; and Kahlia McDermott came in 16th.

The homework hot line is temporarily down. The school will notify parents when this becomes available again.

The Maroon soccer team will be at Nikiski on Thursday and the White team will play Kenai.

Cross country runners travel to Seward on Saturday.

The school nurse, Nancy, will administer TB tests to all seventh- and eighth-grade students new to the district. She will be doing this through the science classes, Monday through Oct. 3.

The kick off for the school's annual magazine sales drive will be Oct. 1. Subscriptions can be obtained from any Soldotna Middle student.
