The students at CIA will be busy Friday jogging, biking and working at various service organizations throughout the community. The annual jog-, bike- and work-a-thon provides all the funds for the school's activity programs and also helps students learn how to work and serve others.

Students of the week are Robbie Smithwick, excellent academic work; Gabe O'Neill, being a great friend; Caleb Spence, being a great listener; Hannah Seldon, sharing her toys; David Berger and Tanner Fowler, excellence in attitude; Kendra Brush, excellent reading to the class; Reece O'Dell, doing good schoolwork; Mitchel Daugherty, helpfulness to preschoolers; Julie Litchfield, willingness to help classmates; and Nathan Larson, excellent achievement in math.

The junior high cross country running teams participated in the Soldotna Invitational on Sept. 13. Top 10 finishers for the girls were Brook Forsi, third place; Kaylee Alsworth, sixth; and Holly Kopp, eighth. Top 10 finishers for the boys were Ryan Doyle, fourth; Lars Arneson, sixth; Shane Moffis, ninth; and Lucas Barkman, 10th.

The third-graders ventured to Seldovia on Sept. 12 on board the boat, Discovery. Capt. Cashman helped students spot puffins, murres, otters and whales on the ride over. Once there, the students explored tidal pools filled with hermits, crabs, tadpoles and other sea creatures.
