Youth hockey registration starts today

Registration for Nikiski youth hockey starts today for all levels. Cost for bantams and midgets is $100, while mites, pee-wees and squirts are $65. The introductory program is $50.

Veterans picnic Saturday

All veterans and their families are invited to gather for the third veterans picnic on the Kenai Peninsula on Saturday at the National Guard Armory in Kenai. Beginning at noon, the picnic will include family fun, games, prizes, entertainment and all manner of picnic food.

Pie auction Saturday

The Ninilchik Senior Center will host its annual pie auction and dinner to benefit the Kenai Peninsula United Way on Saturday. Cost is $10 per person, ages 6 to 12 $5, ages under six are free.

The event will be held at the Ninilchik Senior Center from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations of pies are welcome. It is open tot he public.

Bowling leagues forming

Winter bowling leagues are forming in Kenai and Soldotna. To find a place on a team, call 262-9288 or 262-6030.

Flu vaccine in short supply

The Public Health Department will not have flu vaccine available until mid-November, and then it will be in short supply, so high-risk clients will be give the vaccine first.
