HOMER (AP) -- A 19-year-old Anchor Point man has been arrested and charged with escape, Alaska State Troopers said Monday.
Troopers said Frank Thompson's father turned him over to authorities Sunday afternoon, a day after he escaped from custody. Thompson was still wearing handcuffs when his father turned him in.
Authorities said Thompson was arrested late Saturday on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for arraignment on original charges of driving while intoxicated and driving without a license.
The Homer Jail booking facility was busy, so the trooper kept Thompson in his patrol car until he could be booked.
Thompson kicked out the side window of the patrol car and crawled out, troopers said. He was charged with escape and felony criminal mischief for damaging the patrol car.
