A community gathering of candles, patriotic signs and stars and stripes

Posted: Tuesday, September 25, 2001

Everyone wanted to go somewhere to show his or her support for what was attacked last Tuesday. So a spontaneous gathering happened last Friday at the Y in Soldotna. Made up of hundreds of folks of all ages bearing candles and anything red, white, and blue they could find to remember the victims and the heroes of last Tuesday's terrorist attacks.

The white hat in the crowd was that of Alaska's Balladeer, Hobo Jim, who led those assembled in patriotic songs and admitted, "I'd rather be hunting terrorists then hunting moose right now."
