Soldotna chamber luncheon today

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce's weekly luncheon meeting will be today at noon at the Riverside House. The speakers will be Mike Tauriainen and Pete Sprague, Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly candidates for District 4, and Jane Stein and Fred Sturman, Soldotna City Council candidates for Seat D. Subsistence fisheries management meeting

The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will host an informational meeting today at 7 p.m. at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The half-hour presentation will be given by Tom Morphet, Outreach coordinator for subsistence management information. Topics will include history, implications of federal management and how it differs from state management, avenues for participating with the federal process, updates on current proposals affecting Kenai Peninsula user groups.

WRCC monthly meeting Wednesday

The Kenai-Soldotna Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its monthly board meeting Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the center.

Builders association plans meeting

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association will hold a general membership dinner meeting Thursday at Paradisos Restaurant in Kenai at 6:30 p.m. Guest speakers will be Alaska State Plumbing Inspector Paul Yoder and Alaska State Electrical Inspector Larry Coffman. Dinner is $15 and will include drinks and gratuity. Guests are welcome. R.S.V.P. by Wednesday at 5 p.m. by either calling 283-8071 or faxing to 283-8071.

Hospice offers grief support programs

Hospice of the Central Peninsula will begin the fall session with two grief programs. "Transitions" is a program for women who have experienced the death of husbands. "Healing Hearts" offers support for mothers who have lost a child.

Assistance available for child care providers

The Child Care Food Program offers reimbursement to assistants for some costs related to serving foods meeting USDA requirements. For more information, call Jennette Browning, child care food program coordinator, at 283-4707.

Kenai gas meeting canceled

The Joint Committee on Natural Gas Pipelines meeting scheduled for Oct. 2 and 3 in Kenai has been canceled. The meeting may be rescheduled for the first part of November, but as of now, no date has been set.

Hospice Program Seeks Volunteers

Hospice of the Central Peninsula is seeking caring, compassionate adults to provide hospice services to individuals and families in our community. The hospice program offers support to persons with terminal illness, their families and the bereaved. Persons interested in learning more about the hospice concept of care, advance directives and volunteering for hospice are invited to participate in a Hospice Orientation and Training which begins Oct. 10 at the Soldotna Community Schools. Classes for persons interested in becoming hospice direct care or bereavement volunteer will be held through Oct. 17. For additional information and to register, contact hospice at 262-0454.
