Mayme Ruth Shelden
Soldotna resident Mayme Ruth Shelden died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Sterling Senior Center. A viewing will be held from 3:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the senior center. Lindi Holmquist and Brian Getz will officiate. Mrs. Shelden will be cremated following the funeral services. Pallbearers will be Rod Baker, Rex Baker, Troy Baker, John Baker, Jeff Jicha, Lynn Baker, David Baker and Ryan Baker.
Mrs. Shelden was born May 19, 1914, in Platte, S.D. She lived most of her life in Colorado and moved to Anchorage in 1969. She moved to Sterling in 1990 and to Soldotna in 1999.
"She was a faithful God-loving woman. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend," her family said.
She loved reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and being with her family.
Mrs. Shelden was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Baker, and son, Bruce Baker.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Alvin Y. Shelden; daughter, Beverly Deitz; son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Kay Baker; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Barry Sutton; son, Rex Baker; daughter-in-law, Sherry Baker; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
