Brown Bears drop 2 games

The Kenai River Brown Bears dropped a pair of road games to the Wenatchee (Wash.) Wild on Friday and Saturday in North American Hockey League action. Wenatchee (5-1) and Fairbanks (4-0-2) lead the West Division. Kenai River (3-5) is in fourth place. The Wild won 4-1 on Friday and 5-4 on Saturday.

On Saturday, Michael Di Puma scored an unassisted, power-play goal 13:17 into the third period to give Wenatchee the win. Third-period goals by Kenai River's Sean Muller and Alex Frere tied the game at 4.

Shawn Pauly and Brennen Parker gave the Wild a 2-0 lead after one period. After Matt Cope put Wenatchee up by three, Muller and Connor Wright found the back of the net for Kenai River. Anthony Martinez gave Wenatchee a 4-2 lead early in the third period with a power-play goal. The Wild converted on 3-of-7 man advantages. Kenai River was 1-of-7.

On Friday, Wenatchee scored three first-period goals en route to the win in front of 3,807 fans. After giving up three goals on eight shots, Kenai River goaltender Josh Benton was replaced by Mathias Dahlstrom. Dahlstrom stopped 20 of 21 shots through two periods of work. Wild net minder Brandon Jaeger denied 17 of 18 shots faced.

Wenatchee's Michael Di Puma got the game's first tally 32 seconds into the first period. Shawn Pauly added goals three and a half minutes apart to give the Wild a 3-0 lead.

Kenai River's Bobby Murphy scored the lone goal of the second period 15:38 in. Connor Wright and Sean Muller had the assists. Ben Carey added a goal midway through the third period to round out the scoring for Wenatchee.

The Wild were 1-for-6 on the man advantage while the Brown Bears were 0-for-7.
