Police charge 5 in burglaries

Five 18-year-olds were charged Friday for burglaries committed in the Kenai-Soldotna area recently.

On Sept. 18, the Kenai Police Department, Soldotna Police Department and Alaska State Troopers served multiple search warrants at six residences in Sterling, Soldotna and Kenai. Stolen property from multiple recent commercial burglaries in the Kenai-Soldotna area was recovered at all six residences. An investigation revealed that at least five individuals were responsible for the burglaries.

On Friday, arrest warrants were granted for the individuals, and by that evening, Kenai and Soldotna police and troopers had arrested the five individuals.

Charged with multiple counts of second-degree burglary and second-degree theft were Christopher Torwick of Sterling, Johnathan Gomulak of Soldotna and Dennis Chapman and Richard Grove of Kenai. Sidney Udelhoven was booked for one count of second-degree burglary and one count of second-degree theft.
