Candidate Views: Soldotna City Council Seat C: Hale out to make a difference

Soldotna City Council Seat C

Posted: Wednesday, September 27, 2006

I am running for City Council because I believe I can represent all sectors of Soldotna fairly and that, together, we can improve the future of all members of our community. I would like to become more involved in our community and believe this would be a good way to do so.

After living here for 20 years, I have come to realize that we are no longer just a little bedroom community and that we are not just Anchorage’s backyard. We are a growing, thriving, community with growing pains. We must address issues such as annexation and water, youth activities, and senior housing. Also, as the “big box” stores move into Kenai, we must do whatever we can to promote the City of Soldotna and to encourage and promote our local businesses.

I believe in and support the young people of our community. If we work hard to provide them with a safe, healthy, positive place to live, then they, in turn, will be there to help take care of those of us who choose to grow old here.

I have never run for public office before and I don’t want to be a politician. I just want to be able help make a difference for the people of our community. I know that if I am elected, that there will be a huge learning curve for me. But, I am willing spend the time and energy to learn what I need to, in order to do the best possible job. I am proud to call Soldotna my home and look forward to serving you as a member of the city council.

Thank you for your support.
