Michael LeNorman, ERA director of sales & marketing, disembarks from an ERA Dash 8 that proudly wears the new decal of the '06 Arctic Winter Games.
Commuters and visitors from around the world to the Kenai Peninsula have a new reminder that, "The Games are coming!" While the nuts and bolts of hosting the 2006 Arctic Winter Games are being put in place throughout the Peninsula, ERA Aviation, a proud sponsor of the '06 Games, has branded their air fleet with designs depicting many of the events of the Arctic Winter Games.
"The decals give recognition and draw attention to the fact that the Games are going to be held on the Peninsula in 2006. We have six different designs that represent many of the different venues of the Arctic Winter Games including skiing, one foot high kick, ice skating, dog mushing, and other various sports that occur during the Games," says Michael LeNorman, ERA's director of sales and marketing. According to LeNorman the designs were created by local artists through ERA's ad agency in Anchorage. The designs have been placed on all the ERA's aircraft that serve the Kenai and Anchorage market including the Twin Otters, Convair 580's, and DeHaviland Dash 8s.
In an interview at the Kenai Airport last week LeNorman said they are receiving a lot of positive comments about the new decals, "It's raising the level of awareness among our passengers that the games are coming, a lot of visitors don't realize that the games will be held on the Peninsula and we hope to raise that level of awareness with these decals so folks will plan to be here for the Games in 2006," added LeNorman.
AWG General manager Loren Smith said, "It's great to see this level of participation from our local airline. It builds the enthusiasm and spirit of the Games. I think it'll also encourage young athletes who are traveling on ERA to start training and preparing to try out for Team Alaska so that they can have the thrill of a lifetime competing with athletes from around the circum polar world."
