If Dreams Had Keys

Posted: Thursday, September 28, 2006

If I had a dollar

for every color

of car my eyes have seen,

I’d buy a Porsche

in brilliant orange

and park it on the green.

If I had a nickel

for every shadow

that’s leaned its weight on me,

the silhouette

of my red Corvette

is all you cats would see.

If I had a penny

for every Benny

fat Congress gave itself,

my gold and teal

plush Oldsmobile

would pilot-car my wealth.

If I had a million

for all the children

whose skills we should discuss,

I’d buy a school

and fill it full

with my big yellow bus.
