Thanks to those who made Octoberfest possible

Posted: Tuesday, September 28, 2010

On behalf of the members, listeners, and staff of KDLL, we would like to thank the members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Soldotna and Kenai Lodges for the 11th Annual KDLL Oktoberfest! We truly appreciate your efforts organizing and hosting this annual event.

As we all know, no German dinner is complete without Oktoberfest beer - this year provided by the wonderful folks at Kenai River Brewery. And thanks to Joe for setting up the station and showing our volunteers how to keep the beer flowing!

In addition, we would like to thank the KDLL volunteers who helped cook, serve and then clean up the Soldotna Elks Lodge. Everyone enjoyed a great feast of bratwurst, sauerkraut, lentil soup and appfelkucken.

Thanks once again to Die Alaska Blaskapelle for providing the polka, waltz, chaddish, and chicken dance music. This is a great band of performers who have provided the live music for each of our Oktoberfest Festivals, year in, year out. Without the traditional "oompah" music these folks play, it just wouldn't be right!

We look forward to next year's Oktoberfest!
