Knowles takes diving in Valdez

A pair of swimmers from the Kenai Peninsula earned first-place medals at the Valdez Invitational Swimming and Diving Meet, held Friday and Saturday at Valdez.

Kenai's Rachel Knowles won the girls 1-meter diving event with a total score of 207.55. Seward's Jacqueline Van Driessche won a pair of events, taking first in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.89 seconds and first in the 100 freestyle in 56.90 seconds.
