Gilbreath to speak at Soldotna chamber

Disaster awareness meeting slated

The Anchor Point Disaster Response group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Anchor Point Senior Center. The public is invited to attend.

Dedication ceremony scheduled at courthouse

At 3 p.m. Wednesday, the atrium in the Kenai Courthouse will be dedicated to the memory of Jonathan H. Link in honor of his exemplary service as a Superior Court judge for the Kenai Peninsula. The public is invited to attend.

Blood donations needed

The Blood Bank of Alaska currently is facing a critical shortage of type O-negative blood. O-negative blood is the universal blood type most used to treat emergency and trauma cases since it can be use by patients of any blood type. For more information or to donate, call 260-5672.

Quilting guild to hold meeting

The Kenai Peninsula Quilting Guild will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. The meeting is open to all interested quilters. There will be a business meeting followed by a free lunch. A drawing for a spring quilt retreat in Homer will conclude the days activities. For more information, call Chris at 283-8170.

Fire station fund-raiser planned

A garage-craft sale fund-raiser to benefit the Funny River Fire Station will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Mile 16.5 of Funny River Road. To donate items for the garage sale, call Mary at 262-6234 or to donate items to the craft sale, call 262-6051.

Hospital service board to meet

The Central Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13 in the Iliamna room at Central Peninsula General Hospital.

Social Security rep to visit the peninsula

Social Security Administration representatives will be on the peninsula at the following location and times; in Seward, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 21 at the council chambers; in Kenai, noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 22 at Kenai City Hall; and in Homer, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at the senior citizens center.

SoHi craft show seeking vendors

The Soldotna High Schools PTSA annual craft fair will be held Nov. 15 and 16. It currently is seeking interested vendors.
