The school is hosting the state cross country meet Saturday. More than 58 schools and 350 runners will attend. The school is looking for volunteers to help with this activity.

The last home football games of the season will take place Thursday and Friday against Homer. The junior varsity team will play at 4 p.m. Thursday, and the varsity game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The volleyball teams are in Anchorage at the West Spike.

Students in social studies have been actively engaging in learning outside the formal classroom, which is in keeping with state standards. Students from Rob Sparks' class have been involved in doing government projects that are community based; Linda Raemaeker's students have been attending city council meetings and the League of Women Voters' candidate forum; and students for Dave Carey's class have been applying for positions on the city of Soldotna boards and commissions, as well as attending local meetings.
