Skyview netters top Seward

Posted: Wednesday, September 29, 2004

The visiting Skyview volleyball team defeated Seward 25-14, 19-25, 25-27, 25-17 and 15-5 Tuesday in a nonconference game.

The Panthers are now 5-4 overall and have won three games in a row.

"We've got a little run going," Skyview coach Sheila Kupferschmid said. "The kids did something very difficult they came from down 2-1 to win a match.

"That shows a lot of heart and character. They could have folded. It's tough to beat Seward at Seward."

Anna Bonebrake had a four blocks and a season-high 15 kills. Amber Kunz had six kills and was 11-for-14 on digs. Cady Bon had two kills and served for 20 points. Melissa Fay had four tip kills and served for 12 points. Finally, Jennifer Holland had 14 points and was 12-for-17 on digs.

Skyview will travel to the West Spiketacular Friday and Saturday in Anchorage. The Panthers open the tournament at 3 p.m. Friday with a match against Service.
