Suitcases for kids kicks off

The National Association of Relators is looking for donated new or like new suitcases for Suitcases for Kids. It is an international nonprofit organization that collects and distributes new and gently used suitcases, duffel bags and backpacks for foster children. Area board members are collecting for the peninsula's Division of Family and Youth Services. To make a donation or arrange pick-ups or drop-offs, call Val Lewis at 262-1851.

Area chambers set schedules

Kenai Peninsula Borough mayoral candidate Gary Superman will speak at noon today at the Nikiski Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Ohana's Family Restaurant. Next week's speaker will be Tim Dillon and Kathy Moore with the Arctic Winter Games. For more information, call Judene at 776-5551.

There will be a "what's happening update" about construction on the Soldotna bridge, Central Peninsula General Hospital, Fred Meyer and the Arctic Winter Games at noon Tuesday at the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce luncheon at the Riverside House. For more information, call Michelle at 262-9814.

There will be an oil and gas industry forum at noon Wednesday at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Paradisos. For more information, call Natalia at 283-7989.

Chamber rec guide on the way

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce is working on its annual Recreation and Visitors Guide for 2006. To include a business in the guide, call Robyn at 262-9814.

CISB wants totes returned

All fishermen who participated in the Insulated Tote Quality Assurance Program are asked to return totes immediately. Totes can be returned from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at the Kenai Landing custom processing dock. They can also may be returned by appointment by calling Willow King at 252-1189 or 262-8505.
