Dedication ceremony scheduled at courthouse
At 3 p.m. Wednesday, the atrium in the Kenai Courthouse will be dedicated to the memory of Jonathan H. Link in honor of his exemplary service as a Superior Court judge for the Kenai Peninsula. The public is invited to attend.
Kenai chamber to host council candidates

Parents support group to meet
A Parents Anonymous Support group will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bridges Community Center next to Buckets in Soldotna. There is no fee. NPCC schedules meeting
The North Peninsula Community Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center. Residents of the north peninsula are invited to attend. For more information, call 776-8555.
Fish and Game advisory committee to meet
The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting of the season at 6 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Kenai River Center. Representatives of the Fish and Game commercial fishing, sportfishing, game and Parks Division will give overviews of the past season's issues. Election procedures and guide numbers also will be discussed. The public is invited to attend.
Discount cards benefit cancer fund
The Soroptimist International of the Twin Cities is selling discount cards to benefit its cancer fund, which is administered by Central Peninsula General Hospital. The funds go to help area women in need of assistance. Cards cost $10, contain discounts for many area businesses and are valid for one year. Donations sought for Community Closet
The Independent Living Centers' Community Closet is in need of donations. Needed items are transfer benches, shower rails and low-vision equipment. Donations are tax deductible. For more information, to donate or if you have a need that could be filled, call Laurel or Heather at 262-6333.
