Quilting guild to meet

The Kenai Peninsula Quilt Guild is coordinating the making of Spirit Bears for the participants in the Arctic Winter Games 2006. To achieve this goal, several hundred bears need to be made each six months. The public is invited to join in bear production at the guild's monthly work session from noon to 10 p.m. today at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. Donations of time, fabric scraps and filling material is needed. for more information, call Jan at 262-5098.

CPGH board meeting slated

The Central Peninsula General Hospital board of directors will meet at 4:30 p.m. today in the Borealis Conference room at the hospital. The public is invited. For a copy of the agenda, visit www.cpgh.org.

Kidney support group to gather

A newly formed kidney support group will meet at 5 p.m. today in the Iliamna Room at Central Peninsula General Hospital. Kidney patients, their families, friends and caregivers are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Judy or Bob Downs at 260-1903.

Parent support group meeting scheduled

The Peninsula Parents Anonymous Group will meet at 6 p.m. every Thursday at Bridges Community Resource Network, next to Buckets in Soldotna.

The group is for parents who would like to improve family relationships or who feel stressed or overwhelmed. The is no fee. A meal and a children's program is provided. For more information, call 262-9990 or (800) 478-7678.

Women health screenings available

In celebration of National Nurse-Midwifery Week, free annual exams with pap testing will be offered by appointment and free pregnancy testing will be held all day on a walk-in basis from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at 35670 Kenai Spur Highway, Suite 101A, in Soldotna. KPC seeking representatives

Kenai Peninsula College is seeking individuals to serve on the KPC Council. The council serves in a public advisory role for the college and seeks to have representation from all sectors of the peninsula.

Seniors plan dinner, auction

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center will hold its 10th annual Thelma McConnell Scholarship Dinner and Auction at 6 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Agrium meeting facility on the corner of South Miller Loop and the Kenai Spur Highway. Dinner begins at 6 p.m., and the auction will follow at 7. The cost is $15 per person. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship program.
